Perak SEDC (PKNP) – a Premier League outfit making its debut in the Malaysia Cup shocked Super League’s seasoned side Felda United 3-1 at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka.

Defending champions Kedah held off a late Selangor onslaught for a 3-2 win at the Selayang Stadium in a robust match which saw several bookings on both sides.

Danish striker Ken Ilso was the toast of the Red Eagles – scoring a brace within the first 20 minutes. He struck his first on seven minutes and added another in the 17th.

If many thought Kedah were cruising to an easy win Selangor fought their way into the picture through their hardworking Spanish striker Rufino Segovia just after the break when he narrowed the deficit with a header but the hardworking Zainon Syazwan hit target in the 68th minute for a 3-1 lead for Kedah – only to see Segovia score again two minutes later.

In the dying minutes Kedah keeper Ifwat saved a couple of shots at his goal as the Red Giants threw everything into attack. However, Ifwat and company held on for a morale boosting away win with three away goals for next week’s return-leg in Alor Setar.

Lebanese international Mohammed Ghaddar once again showed his killer instincts and put Melaka to the sword at the Hang Jebat Stadium as the Super League champions romped to an impressive 4-1 win.

Ghaddar was on target in the seventh and 34th minutes before Natso Insa and Safiq Rahim completed the whitewas with goals in the 69th and 85th minutes respectivel

Melaka’s consolation goal came from Marco Simic just before the half-time whistle.

PKNP had a hattrick hero in Shahrel Fikri Fauzi who scored on 11th, 45th and 68th minutes at Felda’s home turf. The Fighters pulled one back through Hadin Azman in the 77th minute. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
