Chanathip gives Thailand 16th King’s Cup

It could not have been more dramatic than a late winner and who else better to deliver it than superstar Chanathip Songkrasin for Thailand’s 16^th King’s Cup at the Tinsulanon Stadium in Songkhla.

Against Syria in the final, the Thais had taken the lead just before the break through Ekanit Panya (44^th minute) before the visitors then found the equaliser through Ezequiel Ham (53^rd).

However, Chanathip would have the final say in the game when he snatched the late winner (90th+1 minute) for the King’s Cup title they last won in 2017.

In the meantime, the Philippines emerged third in the King’s Cup this year after beating Tajikistan 3-0.
