It could not have been more dramatic than a late winner and who else better to deliver it than superstar Chanathip Songkrasin for Thailand’s 16th King’s Cup at the Tinsulanon Stadium in Songkhla.

Against Syria in the final, the Thais had taken the lead just before the break through Ekanit Panya (44th minute) before the visitors then found the equaliser through Ezequiel Ham (53rd).

However, Chanathip would have the final say in the game when he snatched the late winner (90th+1 minute) for the King’s Cup title they last won in 2017.

In the meantime, the Philippines emerged third in the King’s Cup this year after beating Tajikistan 3-0.
