Stadium Melawati

# World No 1 Chen Long happy with stadium conditions

Top seed and defending champion Chen Long of China is more concerned playing his compatriot and No 8 seed Tian Houwei in the quarter-finals in the Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open SuperSeries Premier than the much said shortcomings at the Malawati Stadium.

“Much has been said about the windy conditions and some leaks in the stadium, but it is something all players have encountered. To me it is nothing. To me the shortcomings have been blown out of proportion,” said Chen Long.

“I just mustered the conditions and played my matches so far. In the quarter-finals I will met my compatriot Tian Houwei and I am more concerned with that.

“Houwei is now one of the top three players in China and has improved in his game tremendously. It will be a tough match but with the stadium conditions suiting me I hope to advance,” said Chen Long who is also the current World No 1.

Houwei stopped Taiwan’s Hsu Jen-hao 23-21, 21-18 in his second round match which lasted 57 minutes.
