Sabah’s Christian Didier Chin gets his first ITF singles title at home in the Kuala Lumpur ITF tournament yesterday. However, the youngster failed to land the doubles crown when he fell in the final.
In the doubles, Christian had partnered another Malaysian Takeshi Koey but lost to the Pakistani and Indian pair of Ali Mooraj and Karan Srivastava in three sets after taking the first and leading 3-1 in the super tie break third set.
However in the singles final, Christian was his confident self and push on for the the 6-1 & 6-4 win over Dev Javia from India.
Christian was overjoyed with the win and is yearning for more. Christian has now broken into the top 200 singles ranking in the world. He is gearing towards breaking into the top 100 to enable him to get direct entry into the tournament proper of the Junior grand slams.
Before that he will focus on the ITF Men’s futures later this year.
STA president Johnson Koh was at the Titiwangsa courts to give support together with his father Christopher and Takeshi’s father Koey.
Johnson Koh had a talk with Christopher and he pleaded with STA president to assist him to find financial assistance to enable Christian to go for other tournaments as LTAM says MSN funds are limited.
