Christian Didier Chin – Sabah’s brightest junior player so far – has won the 2nd leg doubles partnering Seita Watanabe of Japan in the ITF Grade 5 in Colomba, Sri Lanka.
Last week they won the 1st leg of the doubles. Christian & Watanabe are the 2nd seeds in the tournament. The pair beat Soma Yokoyama (Japan) & Yu Chieh Cheng ( Taipei)5-7, 6-0 & 10-5 in the quarters and in the semis they beat Chen Yu Fenf Lin Han Chih from Taipei 2-6, 6-1 & 10-4.
In the finals they beat the unseeded pair from Thailand Charoenphon Yuttana & Samrej Kasidit 6-2, 6-1 easily.
In the singles Christian manage to enter the quarters but lost to the top seed from Taipei Yu Hua Chen 4-6, 4-6.
With this progress Christian is moving towards the ranking of below 500 so that he can qualify for some special tournaments.
