Borussia Dortmund came from two goals down to beat Bayer Leverkusen, while Stuttgart and Schalke enjoyed their first wins of the Bundesliga campaign, and Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach played out an entertaining draw on Saturday.
Borussia Dortmund came from two goals down to defeat Bayer Leverkusen and preserve their unbeaten start to the new Bundesliga season on Saturday (29th September).
Mitchell Weiser and Jonathan Tah put Leverkusen two ahead before half-time, but four goals in two second-half minutes from Dortmund duo Jacob Bruun Larsen and Marco Reus levelled matters.
Substitute Paco Alcacer struck twice late on to seal all three points for Lucien Favre’s side.
Stuttgart claimed their first Bundesliga win of the season, and inflicted a first defeat of the campaign on 10 man Werder Bremen, with a 2-1 victory.
Stuttgart goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler’s comical own goal was the first they have conceded since May 2016, but goals either side of that error from Anastasios Donis and Gonzalo Castro denied Bremen and sealed all three points for the hosts.
Schalke are also off the mark this term – and brought to an end a run of five straight Bundesliga defeats – after Alessandro Schopf gave them a 1-0 victory over Mainz.
Wolfsburg twice pegged back Borussia Monchengladbach to draw 2-2 at the Volkswagen Arena.
Goals from Gladbach duo Alassane Plea and Thorgan Hazard were cancelled out by Renato Steffen and Wout Weghorst respectively as the match ended in a draw. SNTV
