Vietnam women’s national team head coach Mai Duc Chung has roped in two former players to be part of the coaching staff as the team looks to raise their game for the second round qualifiers of the Olympic Games 2024.
“We always wanted to have innovations in the coaching staff. As such, former players like Van Thi Thanh and Luu Ngoc Mai have been roped in as they have coaching certificates. We want to train these factors,” said Duc Chung.
Other than changes to the coaching staff, the Vietnam women’s national team also welcomed the return of defender Nguyen Thi My Anh and also young striker Ngoc Minh Chuyen.
“We will participate in the second qualifiers against Japan, Uzbekistan and India. These are strong opponents. Towards that, we have decided to call some new faces, including Ngoc Minh Chuyen (Thai Nguyen FC). She has been playing quite well with the Vietnam U20 women’s team.”
For the qualifiers, Vietnam are in Group C against Japan, Uzbekistan, and India.
They will play all their matches in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
