Jazeman Jaafar heads off to the third round of the Blancpain Endurance Series with Paul Ricard circuit in Southern France hosting the event this weekend. McLaren Academy Driver, Jazeman, will rejoin teammates Dean Stoneman and Andrew Watson in a Strakka Racing McLaren 650S GT3 for this six hour race that will take the drivers from daylight to darkness, with a midnight finish.
The Strakka Racing #59 car has not had the best of seasons so far, with technical issues and accidents hampering the team’s efforts to demonstrate the pace of the McLaren 650S. Jazeman and his teammates are hoping to turn their fortunes around this weekend.
Jazeman said of the race ahead, “The Paul Ricard race promises to be a different challenge for us. As well as being twice the length of the races we’ve done so far, there is also the differing light conditions and temperature changes. Driving at dusk is a challenge, as is racing at night. With more points on offer this race is a chance for us to get some points on the board and really boost our campaign.”
Of the track Jazeman says, “I’ve raced here quite a few times, so I’m very familiar with it and the challenge it presents. But this race will have over 60 cars on the grid, so it will be a very busy track. I love this sort of challenge and really enjoy racing in darkness, so I’m really excited and can’t wait to get back in the McLaren 650S”
Blancpain GT Series track action starts on Friday for Jazeman, with free practice and pre-qualifying sessions. Final qualifying is on Saturday morning and the race starts at 18.00, finishing at midnight. All the racing action is shown live on the series website, www.blancpain-gt-series.com and highlights are shown on Fox Sports 3 in Malaysia.
