It will be a most exciting weekend for Zen Low and Fairuz Fauzy as they head for their first GT AsiaĀ Series outing during the season opener at Korea International Circuit.
The duo departed Kuala LumpurĀ late Monday evening to compete this weekend in a Lamborghini Gallardo FLII with team OD Racing.Ā
Zen is eager yet anxious to see how far he has progressed after his accident, fracturing his left ankleĀ early this February.
A stint of physiotherapy and some really hard workout sessions with his trainerĀ allowed Zen to get into a kart for a little fun training in March, but it showed him that he needed moreĀ time. Now, this weekend will be a true test for him in the hour long race which he will share with Fairuz.
āI am quite excited going into the race weekend after all the hard work with my trainer, so Iām sure itĀ will be a good weekend.
āThe Series itself will be something interesting to race in. Such a competitive line-up so far and I amĀ glad to have Fairuz to fight the battles with me but it will be my first time at the Korean circuit andĀ with the packed grid, it will be a competitive outing for sureā said Zen before leaving for Korea.
This will be Fairuzās first full GT series season after competing in single seater cars throughout hisĀ career, becoming a test and reserve driver for three Formula 1 teams.
The 32-year old Malaysian hasĀ come a long way from his childhood dreams of racing and is a great asset to the team, transitioningĀ from open wheel to closed cockpit with great ease.
