Felcra FC have appointed Rosle Md Derus as the new head coach to spearhead the team’s aspiration to win the FAM Cup and earn promotion to the Premier League. This was announced at a press conference and a Berbuka Puasa event at the Uniten Residence Hotel in Bangi.
According to deputy president Datuk Hazian Murad, Felcra have decided to promote assistant coach Rosle as the successor to former head coach Yusri Che Lah – who was dropped after six lacklustre games.
“We have seen positive changes to the results of the team and that’s what we want most importantly.
“The team’s spirit have improved and they are back stronger now. I think the coach has done well to bring the players together to work as a family,” said Hazian.
Hazian also added that 39-year-old Rosle, who will make his debut as head coach, has been given the blessings and backing from Felcra to handle the team with full authority.
“I’m confident that we will make it through. We have informed the team that there will be no room for errors after the Hari Raya break as we want to win the Cup and promotion to the second tier Premier League next season,” explained Hazian.
Felcra have also recruited three new players from Negri Sembilan, Melaka United and MISC-MIFA during the second transfer window as an addition to strengthen the team.
“I’m thankful for the faith and support from the top management for the appointment as head coach. I will take this opportunity as a challenge to bring the team to greater heights.
“It won’t be easy as many teams have heavily invested in experienced players to better their performances especially this season. The pressure will definitely be there and it will be a tight challenge,” said Rosle.
Felcra are currently placed fourth in Group A with 14 points after nine games with four wins and three draws. The group leaders UKM lead the table with 18 in a tight contest with Shahzan Muda (17) and Ministry of Finance (16).
At the end of the league stage, the top four teams from Group A and Group B will battle it out in the quarter-finals of the FAM Cup. The finalists will then be promoted to the second division Premier League next season. – BY ALVIN OH
