FIFA have imposed a fine of USD 45,223 (IDR 643 million or CHF 45,000) on the FA of Indonesia (PSSI) for the crowd trouble that erupted in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match between the hosts and Malaysia.
Play at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on 5 September 2019 had to be stopped for quite some time in the second half when Indonesian fans broke security protocols.
“PSSI respect the decision and the fine imposed by FIFA. We have taken measures to make sure that this incident does not happen again,” said Ratu Tisha Destria, the General Secretary of PSSI, who is also a vice president of the AFF.
“Football should unite us all, it should promote harmony and also the culture of respect between us all. We will continue to strive towards these ideals.”
