KEMERIAHAN Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama yang julung kali dianjurkan bersempena Sukan SEA ke-29 dan Sukan Para ASEAN ke-9 (turut dikenali sebagai Kuala Lumpur 2017 (KL2017)) bakal diteruskan ke negara Filipina apabila baton tersebut tiba di Manila pada 12 Mac 2017.
Filipina menjadi destinasi kedua dalam siri Larian Baton Bangkit Bersamaselepas Brunei Darussalam yang telah berlangsung pada hari Ahad lepas.
Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama di Manilaakanmenyaksikan larian sejauh 7.2 kilometer bermula pada jam 6 pagidi Malacanang Palace. Ia dijadualkan melintasi tempat ikonik negara tersebut seperti Luneta, Rajah Sulayman Park dan Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. Pemenang pingat perak di Sukan Olimpik 2016 Rio De Janeiro, Hidilyn Diaz yang juga merupakan jaguh angkat berat wanita negara tersebut akan menjadi pelari utama pertama larian baton ini.
Delegasi Malaysia ke Manila akan diketuai oleh Menteri Belia dan Sukan, YB Brig. Jen. Khairy Jamaludddin dan diiringi oleh Timbalan Ketua Setiausaha Kementerian Belia dan Sukan,Encik Nik Abd Kadir bin Nik Mohammad serta Ketua Pegawai Operasi Jawatankuasa Pengelola Malaysia (MASOC) KL2017, Encik Shaiful Zahrin bin Subhan.
Setelah tamat larian, penyerahan baton untuk negara seterusnya, iaitu Lao PDRakan berlangsung. Encik William I. Ramirez, Pengerusi Suruhanjaya Sukan Filipina (PSC)akan menyerahkan baton kepada Duta Lao PDR ke Filipina, Tuan Yang Terutama Phoxay Khaykhamphithoune sebagai tanda simbolik jelajah Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama ke negara tersebut.
Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama merupakan pra-acara kepada temasya sukan KL2017 yang dianjurkan oleh MASOC dengan kerjasama negara-negara terlibat. Ia merupakan salah satu usaha mempromosikan KL2017 kepada rakyat di negara-negara peserta serta untuk mencerminkan semangat perpaduan serta kekitaan antara penduduk rantau Asia Tenggara melalui sukan.
Larian Baton yang pertama telah dianjurkan pada 5 Mac 2017 di Brunei Darussalam, dimana baton telah diserahkan secara simbolik oleh YB Brig. Jen. Khairy kepada Presiden Majlis Olimpik Kebangsaan Brunei Darussalam, Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Bendahara Seri Maharaja Permaisuara Pengiran Muda Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien sebagai tanda larian bermula. Di akhir larian tersebut, baton tersebut telah diserahkan kepada wakil negara Filipina merangkap Duta Besar Filipina ke Brunei Darussalam, Tuan Yang Terutama Meynardo LB. Montealegre.
Selepas Filipina, Larian Baton Bangkit Bersama akan di bawa ke Lao PDR pada 18 Mac 2017 dan seterusnya ke Myanmarpada 25 Mac 2017. KL2017 akan berlangsung pada 19 hingga 31 Ogos 2017 bagi temasya Sukan SEA dan 17 hingga 23 September 2017 bagi Sukan Para ASEAN.

PHILIPPINES TO CONTINUE THE SPIRIT OF THE RISING TOGETHER BATON RUN
THE excitement of the Rising Together Baton Run, organised for the first time in conjuction with the 29th SEA Games and the 9th ASEAN Para Games (also known as Kuala Lumpur 2017 (KL2017)), will continue in the Philippines when the baton arrives in Manila on 12 March 2017.
Philippines will be the second destination in the Rising Together Baton Run series after the inaugural run in Brunei Darussalam this past Sunday.
The Rising Together Baton Run in Manila will be flagged off at 6a.m. at Malacanang Palace and will cover a 7.2 kilometer route. The run is scheduled to pass several iconic places in the country, namely Luneta, Rajah Sulayman Park dan Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. Hidilyn Diaz, Philippines’ female weightlifter and silver medalist in the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, will lead the baton run.
The Malaysian delegation to Manila will be led by the Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Brig. Gen. Khairy Jamaluddin and accompanied by the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Mr Nik Abd Kadir bin Nik Mohammad and the Chief Operating Officer of the Malaysian Organising Committee (MASOC) KL2017, Mr Shaiful Zahrin bin Subhan.
The handover of the baton to the next host country, Lao PDR will take place at the end of the baton run. Mr William I. Ramirez, Chairman of the Philippines Sports Commission, will pass the baton to the Lao PDR Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Phoxay Khaykhamphithoune,as a symbolic gesture of the continuation of the event on to the next country.
The Rising Together Baton Run is organised by MASOC with the cooperation of the participating countries as a prelude to KL2017. It is also one of the intiatives to promote KL2017 within the participating countries as well as to reflect the spirit of unity and togetherness among Southeast Asian countries through sports.
The inaugural run, held on 5 March 2017 in Brunei Darussalam,saw the symbolic handover of the baton byYB Brig. Gen. At the end of the run, the baton was passed on to the representative of the Philippines, the Ambassador of Philippines to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Meynardo LB. Montealegre.
After the Philippines, the Rising Together Baton Run will continue on to Lao PDR on 18 March 2017 and thereafter, Myanmar on 25 March 2017. KL2017 will take place from 19 to 31 August 2017 for the 29th SEA Games and from 17 to 23 September 2017 for the 9th ASEAN Para Games.
