# Selangor crushed 3-0 at Shah Alam Stadium

# Terengganu run riot to hammer KL 5-1 at Cheras

# Sabah steal a precious point against Pahang in Kuantan

# Perak share the spoils against newcomers Felcra in Ipoh

Selangor was expected to win on their return to their favorite hunting ground after a two-year absence – the Shah Alam Stadium – but, the Red Giants instead got a 3-0 beating at the hands of PKNP FC (Perak SEDC) in their opening Group D match on Saturday.

Selangor is the most successful team in the Malaysia Cup, having won the silverware a record 33-times. The Red Giants are no more the feared team of yesteryears.

In the recently concluded Malaysian Super League, the Klang valley outfit was lucky to have escaped relegation, finishing eighth in the 12-team league.

Goals by Hafiz Ramdan and Fandi Ahmad in the first half and one by Ritus Kraujklis in the second half were enough to give PKNP a morale-boosting win, more so when playing away.

There was also a shock result at the Darulmakmur Stadium in Kuantan when FA Cup champions Pahang were held to a 1-1 draw by Premier League’s Sabah in another Group D match.

Austin Amutu gave Pahang the lead in the 44th minute while Hector Ramos got Sabah’s equalizer a minute into the second half.

The biggest win, however, was registered by Terengganu at the KLFA Stadium in Cheras – a crushing 5-1 win over Kuala Lumpur in a Group A match.

Led by skipper and prolific scorer Kipre Tchetche the Turtles ran riot against the City Boys. Tchetche who hails from Ivory Coast hammered a grand hat-trick with goals in the 24th, 55th and 72nd minutes.

Terengganu’s other scorers were Lee Tuck (44th) and Igor Zonjic (64th) while international Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak scored KL’s consolation goal five minutes before the end.

At the Perak Stadium in Ipoh, Perak was also left frustrated with a scoreless draw against newcomers Felcra FC in another Group A match. RIZAL ABDULLAH
