Five teams from ASEAN have made the cut for the second round of the AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship following the first round of qualifications that was held last month.
The five teams who have confirmed their progression to the next round are Australia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines and Vietnam.
Thailand won Group C but since they are the hosts of the AFC U16 Women’s Championship, they will not be playing in the second round of the qualifiers.
A total of nine teams from ASEAN had taken part in the initial qualifiers where other than the six teams above were Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
Laos emerged as Group B winners while Australia took Group D as Myanmar went through as Group E champions.
Both Vietnam and the Philippines made the grade based on their rankings as among the top three of the best placed second best teams in the group.
The second round of the qualifiers will be played on 23 February to 3 March 2019.
The eight teams including China PR, Bangladesh and Iran will be divided into two groups with the four best-placed teams confirming their flight to Bangkok 2019.
The four confirmed teams are hosts Thailand and the three best finishers in 2017 and they are DPR Korea, South Korea and Japan.
