SPECIAL OLYMPICS SINGAPORE IS THE CHOSEN BENEFICIARY FOR SINGAPORE
Hours before the 2019 International Champions Cup (ICC) presented by AIA match on 20 July between Manchester United and Inter at the National Stadium, the ICC will be continuing its mission of giving back to the community by presenting its local legacy project partner in Singapore, Special Olympics, with new football equipment. The power of sports is its ability to unite one-and-all, and football is no different. ICC believes the game is for everyone to enjoy.
At each of the ICC host cities, a worthy project requiring funding and support will be identified. In Singapore, ICC will partner with Special Olympics Singapore, the only registered non-profit voluntary organisation in Singapore dedicated to providing sporting recreational activities, sports training and competition opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics Singapore and ICC are lining up to use the power of football to connect the community. Celebrating Special Olympics’ Global Day of Inclusion, a football clinic will be conducted at Bendemeer Secondary School for Special Olympics Singapore athletes, with special appearances by club legends; Bryan Robson and Denis Irwin from Manchester United; Julio Cesar from Inter; David Trezeguet and Edgar Davids from Juventus; and Ledley King from Tottenham Hotspur.
To support and sustain the legacy, ICC will donate playing equipment, such as footballs and training gear, to bolster Special Olympics Singapore in their football initiatives. ICC will also donate items to be used during Special Olympics Singapore Football Carnival on 27 July. Additionally, the Special Olympics Singapore team is invited to the ICC match between Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur at the National Stadium, Singapore Sports Hub, on 21 July.
