Former AFF President Tan Sri Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen Tengku Ismail has been honoured with one of Japan’s highest awards for his contribution to the cordial relationship of both countries.
In a statement, the Japanese Embassy in Malaysia announced that the Emperor of Japan has conferred the prestigious Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun upon Tengku Ahmad.
The Order of the Rising Sun was established by Emperor Meiji in 1875 and is Japan’s first award.
