Guatemalan professional footballer Pablo Villatoro was shot dead Thursday in a road rage incident, police said.
Villatoro, 33, a defender on the Mixco club squad, was killed in the city of Chiquimula, about 200 kilometers (124 miles) east of the capital following a traffic dispute.
Police said they are investigating.
The footballer had survived a 2007 shooting, when he was shot twice by thieves trying to steal his car.
Guatemala is one of Latin America’s most violent nations, with a homicide rate of 40 per 100,000 people, according to World Bank data from 2010 to 2014. – Agence France-Presse
