* Senai Airport closed due to poor visibility
* Air Pollutant Index breaches the 200 mark in Pasir Gudang
* Situation in Singapore no better with API readings breaching the 300 mark
The Group A Malaysia Cup match between Johor Darul Takzim II (JDT II) and Kedah scheduled to be played at the Pasir Gudang Stadium on Saturday has been called off.
Kedah’s flight to Johor was cancelled on Friday morning was cancelled after the Senai International Airport was closed by the authorities due to poor visibility.
On top of that the Air Pollutant Index (API) in Pasir Gudang breached the 200 mark – is termed as very unhealthy level.
The FA of Malaysia (FAM) in a statement said the JDT II – Kedah match is officially postponed and a new date will be announced soon.
Another Group A – which is between Lions XII and Terengganu which is scheduled to kickoff at 7.45pm at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore is also likely to be called off due to worsening haze conditions in the republic.
On Friday, the Singapore authorities closed all primary and secondary schools in Singapore after the API breached the 300 mark. This is the first time that Singapore closed schools due to haze.
It is not known of other Malaysia Cup matches will be called off. Much will depend on the haze situation but the FAM has warned that if the API readings breach the 150 mark the matches will not take place.
