After its successful first debut at Besraya Highway last year, the IJM Allianz Duo Highway Challenge is back again for the second year. This year’s return garnered 6000 runners that cruised through the Besraya Highway. Similar to last year, the challenge offered a 13km challenge and a 6km fun run that went along the stretch of the elevated Besraya highway.
The highway saw running junkies flocking the roads when the run kicked off at 6.30am and 7.00am for the 13km and 6km runs respectively. The run route started off at Loke Yew Toll Plaza all the way to Pandan Indah and took a curve at Jalan Istana and Salak Selatan before turning back to the toll plaza. The total stretch of the highway is nearly 29km, which offers connectivity between UPM Serdang, Balakong, Salak Selatan, Ampang, and Jalan Istana.
The duo highway challenge was held in collaboration with IJM Corporation Berhad (IJM) and Allianz Malaysia Berhad as the title sponsors. Organised by Besraya (M) Sdn Bhd (Besraya) and New Pantai Expressway Sdn Bhd (NPE) under IJM’s toll division and EC Pixels, the highway is fully closed with extra precautions taken to ensure the safety of all runners and most importantly, making sure the participants have a great run.
The supporters and finishers of the Besraya Highway Challenge also participated in exciting activities at the Race Village, which includes the various strength challenges and photo booths organized by IJM as well as the opportunity to learn on safety hazard at home and on the road from Allianz’s booth.
Dato’ Soam Heng Choon, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of IJM Corporation Berhad said: “We are pleased to be back here at the Besraya Highway Challenge. Following the success of the run series last year, we hope to continue our effort in promoting healthy urban lifestyles through running, as well as providing a safe and well-organized venue for sports enthusiasts of all levels. The safety of our runners remains our main priority as we want our participants to enjoy running through a fully closed highway.”

And this year’s race was nothing short of that.
