The Inaugural KL Tigers Petra International Rugby 10’s, one of the largest rugby tournaments of its kind in South East Asia, witnessed 120 teams with categories ranging from Under-6 to Under-16 as well as Senior groups, battled to claim the illustrious crown of being named champions.
The main highlight of the day was the senior group final match between KL Tigers from Kuala Lumpur and NS Wanderers from Seremban. To determine the winner of the tournament it was a close fought match with tight contest. The Sunday afternoon match was won 29-10 by NS Wanderers and theywere crowned as the champions.
Besides the finals for each category, all the lead-up games were closely contested. As the teams battled it out during the two-day tournament in sizzling heat; match goers were able to witness the exceptional sportsmanship showcased by the players. All games were being played in the true spirit of rugby.
Murray Ross, President of KL Tigers, the tournament organizer said of the event, “The success of this huge rugby tournament is an encouraging one, the enthusiasm and spirit shown by the players demonstrates that rugby is now firmly established as one of the leading sports events.”
