The third round of the season-ending PGM Maybank ADT Championship will resume on Saturday morning with Thailandâs Nitithorn Thippong continuing to lead the field. at eight-under-par through four holes.
Multiple weather disruptions have caused more than seven hours of play at the RM225,000 (approximately US$58,000) event to be lost over the last three days at the Saujana Golf and Country Club.
Round three will restart at 7.30am on Saturday with the fourth round commencing immediately upon completion of the third round.Â
It continued to affect play with all groups from the third round yet to complete their rounds. The first group has only managed to complete seven holes.
Nitithorn had earlier taken over the second round lead by signing for a four-under-par 68 after completing his remaining 11 holes in the morning.
Nitithorn, who finished his first round in third place, enjoyed an encouraging start with two birdies in his first three holes.
He dropped a shot on the par-four five and parred the next two holes before the sirens blew again for the suspension of play on Thursday.
The Thai resumed his round with four birdies to sign for a two-day total of nine-under-par 135 total.
âIâm happy to be in the lead but anything can happen on this course. I donât want to be too carried away. Thereâs nothing you can do about the weather suspensions as these situations are normal.
âFor me, itâs important to hit your tee shots well on this course as youâll be in trouble if you donât. I hope to continue driving the ball well which is important here,â said Nitithorn, who has one win and four top-10s on the ADT this year.
The PGM Maybank ADT Championship will draw the curtains on what has been a enthralling season on the ADT, which is the secondary circuit of the Asian Tour.
Apart from the crowning of the 2018 ADT Order of Merit champion this week, there is also the exciting race to finish inside the top-seven place on the money list where players will earn their Asian Tour cards for next season.
All ADT events are afforded Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) status. The winner of each tournament receives a minimum of six OWGR points while the top-six players and ties earn points on a sliding scale.
