Indonesia will be hosting several AFF tournaments this year in the run-up to the Asian Games in August. The AFF Council at its meeting in Sydney finalised the dates of these tournaments.
The six tournaments that will be staged in Indonesia this year are the AFF Under-16 Girls Championship, AFF Women’s Championship, AFF Under-19, AFF Futsal Championship, AFF Beach Soccer and AFF Futsal Club Championship.
The AFF Under-16 Girls Championship will take place in Palembang from May 1-13. Following requests from several countries, the dates for the AFF Women’s Championship will be finalised soon by the PSSI.
Two tournaments will be held in Jakarta – the AFF Under-19 tournament (July 1-14) and the AFF Futsal Championship (Nov 5-11).
The AFF Beach Soccer will be held on the renowned resort island of Bali (Oct/Nov) while the AFF Futsal Club Championship in in Jogjakarta (July 15-21).
The AFF Council was informed that the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy for Asean Youth tournament will be organised in Brunei from Apr 23 to May 7 this year.
Meanwhile, at the AFF Council Meeting, AFF Deputy President General Khiev Sameth thanked the FFA for hosting the AFF Council Meeting in Sydney. General Khiev presented a token of appreciation to FFA President Steven Lowy.
