Italy coach Giampiero Ventura has called up a squad of 26 to face Uruguay in a friendly and Liechtenstein in a 2018 World Cup qualifier next month.

The Italians play Uruguay in the French city of Nice on Wednesday June 7, and Liechtenstein at home in Udine on June 11.

There is a call-up for Brazilian-born Roma defender Emerson Palmieri, while AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo makes his return to the squad after a long injury absence.

There are just three foreign based stars in the squad in Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti, Manchester United’s Europa League winner Matteo Darmian and Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini.

The five Juventus stars in the squad — Gianluigi Buffon (main pix), Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Claudio Marchisio — will join the others after next Saturday’s Champions League final.
