Johor Darul Takzim owner Major General Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim is ready to splash to buy the most expensive players during the next transfer window which is in May.
The Johor Crown Prince admitted that the club is “having a hard time and has to grind hard” but is confident that the four-time Malaysian Super League champions “will celebrate with fireworks” in November.
“JDT will never die because we have big dreams and strong foundation,” said Tunku Ismail, adding that taking back Jorge Pereyra Diaz “was a mistake.”
In a posting on the Southern Tigers Facebook the Johor prince added that the JDT project is “still incomplete…only 40-50 percent done” and revealed that caretaker coach Raul Longhi will not be replaced.
“The players are are comfortable working with him.”
TMJ, as Tunku Ismail is popularly known, said that he has a budget to bring the most expensive players to carry JDT’s challenge this season.
Five players have been shortlisted for the second transfer window, adding: “My love, my passion and my spirit are all for Johor. I am still JDT’s owner.”
Tunku Ismail, who is also the president of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), further added that the departure of Portuguese head coach Ulisses Morais is a big loss for JDT.
“He (Morais) was perfect for JDT’s philosophy and policies,” said Tunku Ismail.
Morais quit the team in huff and cited “family health” as his reasons leaving the team – a day after JDT beat Melaka 3-0 in a league match at the Larkin Stadium last month.
