Perak put themselves in a difficult position after managing only a scoreless draw against their bogey team PKNS FC in the first-leg Malaysia Cup quarter-final match at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh on Tuesday.
However, both teams will start on equal footing in this Sunday’s return-leg at the Shah Alam Stadium. For the record, PKNS knocked out Perak at the same stage in this year’s FA Cup competition.
Datuk K.Rajagobal’s side has not lost to Perak this season in five matches – three wins and two draws- plus factor for the Selangor club side.
On a wet and slippery pitch, both sides were cautious in their game but PKNS custodian Zarif Irfan stood a stumbling block between the posts to Perak – much to the chagrin of the home fans.
Perak has their chances but Brendan Gan and Wander Luiz muffed the opportunities that came their way.
The Perak fans were hoping that their Sukma (National Games) success would rub off on their senior team but coach Mehmet Durakovic was left a frustrated man at the end of the final whistle. RIZAL ABDULLAH
