HANYA SETENGAH TAYAR ATASI NORIZMAN
Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi meraih kemenangan dramatik setelah berjaya melintasi garisan penamat dengan hanya kelebihan 0.044s pada pusingan terakhir Kejuaraan Cub Prix AAM Malaysia PETRONAS di Litar Johor, Pasir Gudang, hari ini.
Pelumba Givi Honda Yuzy Racing yang berada di kedudukan kedua selepas selekoh terakhir menuju ke garisan penamat menggunakan kelebihan ‘slipstream’ untuk memintas Norizman Ismail (Harian Metro Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing) dengan kelebihan hanya setengah tayar untuk menamatkan lapan pusingan perlumbaan dengan masa 16’45.278s.
Norizman terpaksa berpuas hati di kedudukan kedua dengan masa 16’45.322s diikuti Mohd Affendi Rosli (PETRONAS Yamaha-CKJ) ketiga, 16’46.335s.
“Saya berpuas hati dengan kemenangan ini. Ia merupakan sesuatu yang saya tunggu selama ini dan merupakan satu pembakar semangat dan petanda baik untuk saya memulakan saingan musim hadapan,” jelas Zaqhwan yang hanya memulakan aksi di kejuaraan ini pada pusingan kelima di Melaka.
Tambah Zaqhwan lagi, “Faktor jentera banyak memainkan peranan pada perlumbaaan hari ini. Setelah berjaya mencatat masa terpantas pada sesi Superpole dan berjaya meraih petak utama, saya yakin untuk berada di atas podium. Lebih menggembirakan apabila berjaya memenangi perlumbaan.
Mengulas lanjut, Zaqhwan berkata, “Selepas kembali ke kancah Kejuaraan Cub Prix, memang saya tidak meletak sebarang sasaran sebaliknya hanya mahu kembali ke prestasi terbaik sepertimana ketika muncul juara keseluruhan pada musim lepas. Saya yakin dengan kemenangan ini ia memberi gambaran untuk saya bersaing merebut kembali kejuaraan pada musim depan.”
Sementara itu, dengan gelaran keseluruhan telahpun menjadi milik Ahmad Fazrul Sham (Yamalube AHM) pada pusingan lepas di Jempul, podium di tempat ketiga membantu Affendi untuk muncul naib juara keseluruhan dengan mengumpul 100 mata mengatasi rakan sepasukan, Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali yang berada di tangga ketiga dengan 94 mata setelah menamatkan perlumbaan di tempat keenam.
Saingan CP115 menjadi milik pelumba tuan rumah yang juga merupakan juara keseluruhan, Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin (PETRONAS Yamaha Maju Motor), 14’04.239s diikuti Mohd Azam Omar (PETRONAS Yamaha-CKJ), 14’04.961s dan Mohd Izzat Zaidi Salehan (Motul Yamaha YY Pang) ketiga, 14’05.807s.
Perlumbaan kelas Wira menjadi milik Mohd Shafiq Ezzariq (Kozi Yam Honda Racing) dengan masa 12’01.293s diikuti Mohd Haziq Fairues, 12’01.600s dan Mohd Qhuwarismi Mohd Nasir (Weststar Motorsport) ketiga, 12’01.900s.

Zaqhwan Zaidi wins final CP130 race in dramatic fashion
The season closing race for the final leg of the 2015 PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship at the Johor Circuit in Pasir Gudang, Johor on Saturday was a dramatic win for Md Zaqhwan Zaidi as he took the CP130 victory.
The 20-year-old GiVi Honda Yuzy Racing rider slipstreamed passed Norizman Ismail from Harian Metro YTEQ SCK Honda Racing on the last lap and was separated by only half a tyre at the finish line during a downpour.
Zaqhwan, who was also last year’s overall class champion, won the race with a time of 16’45.278s in what was an incredible eight-lap wet race on board his Honda.
Norizman, who was close to winning the race, trailed closely with a time of 16′:45.322s.
Another favourite CP130 contender, PETRONAS Yamaha-CKJ’s Md Affendi Rosli, managed a third place victory with a time of 16’46.335s. He had earlier in the race led the race on the fifth and sixth laps before being overtaken by Norizman.
PETRONAS Yamaha Maju Motor’s Abd Muhaimin Roslan came in fourth with a time of 16’46.767s, followed by GiVi Honda Yuzy Racing’s Sasitharen Sukumaran with a time of 16’46.822s, making it to the top five.
Later, the royal guest-of-honour, YAM Tunku Idris Iskandar ibni Sultan Ibrahim, the Tunku Temenggong of Johor, graced the occasion and gave away prizes.
“I did not expect to win the race at all, but nevertheless tried my best to maneuver and slipstream away from Norizman at the last second before the finish line,” said Zaqhwan, who entered the championship halfway through the season after parting ways with the JPMoto Racing Moto2 team
“No words can describe how happy I am right now as this is my first win of the season,” added the ecstatic young rider.
Zaqhwan described his race today as a memorable moment as it was also a hard fought race.
He added: “My win today can hopefully spur me to be in top spirits for next year in preparation for the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC).”
Newly crowned CP130 Champion, Ahmad Fazrul Sham (Yamalube AHM) finished in eight place after he encountered technical problems during the start of the first lap.
Hauling maximum points from this leg, Fazrul Sham finished the season with an oberall 121 points, taking home the championship.
Affendi moves up to second overall with 100 points, while Md Fitri Ashraff Razali (PETRONAS Yamaha-CKJ) ends the season in third place with 94 points.
The trio are followed by Abd Muhaimin (92 points) and Norizman (79 points) completing the overall top five for the CP130.
Meanwhile, CP115 class favourite Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin powered his Yamaha to CP115 victory , ahead of Md Azam Omar from PETRONAS Yamaha-CKJ.
The PETRONAS Yamaha Maju Motor rider started fifth on the grid but slowly made his way to the top in the seven-lap race with a time of with a time of 14’04.239s. The win effectively secures him both the race and also the CP115 overall champion with a total of 190 points.
Md Azam, who started at 11th place, came a close second after clocking a time of 14’04.961s.
Third place Md Izzat Zaidi (Motul Yamaha YY Pang), who started 14th on the grid following a poor qualifying outing yesterday, put on an amazing display of talent to muscle his way to third place with 14’05.807s.
He was followed by Md Iskandar Raduan (elf Koyoko KC Racing) with a time of 14’05.968s and Md Iqbal Amri Abd Malek (FELDA PB Racing) with a time of 14’12.418s, making the fourth and fifth place.
Lastly, Md Shafiq Ezzariq finished at the top in the WIRA category, fending off his two closest rivals, Md Haziq Md Fairues and Md Qhuwarismi Md Nasir in a six-lap race.
The Kozi Yam Honda Racing rider, who started first place on the starting grid, wasted no time and powered his Honda to victory in a top five field of Yamaha machines.
Haziq finished second place after clocking in a time of 12’01.600s, followed by Weststar Motorsports’ Qhuwarismi in third after clocking in at 12’01.900s.
Fourth and fifth place were trailed by Md Izzat Rafiq (Team PETRONAS Yamaha) with 12’02.075s and Saiful Izman Ahmad Zamani (FELDA AFB Tech Cardinals Racing) that came in at 12’02.497.
