THE KL Saracens will be hosting their 7th annual junior rugby tournament on Feb 15 & 16, to be held at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club in Kuala Lumpur.
The tournament, formerly known as BRC International Rugby 10s is now called KLS Bintang International Rugby 10s from 2014 onwards. It has proven to be hugely popular both at home and with overseas teams and is now one of, if not the biggest youth tournaments in Southeast Asia with in excess of 2,300 young players taking part every year.
This year there will be 156 teams participating from all around Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau and Sri Lanka.
The KL Saracens was formally established as Bintang Rugby Club (BRC) in 2007 with approximately 40 volunteer rugby enthusiasts. Known originally as Cobrats, BRC focused specifically on the development of youth rugby in the Klang Valley. The club has seen tremendous growth over the last few years, with over 400 currently registered active junior players.
In 2011, the club created a senior team to provide a pathway for its youth players to transition all the way to the top level of rugby in Malaysia. The club aims is to be in the Super League in the near future and are taking the first step on that path with entry in the National Inter Club Championship in January 2014.
