The young and old – some in wheelchairs, some in strollers – were among the 1,500 runners who joined the KLCC Balloon in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
The Fun Run, was divided into two categories – the 5km and 7km – was organised by the KLCC Runners Group (KLCCRG), the largest running community in the city, in collaboration with the sportswear label, Under Armour.
The run began in front of Menara DBKL and it was a sight to watch as the young and the seniors competed for the hundreds of prizes that were to be won.
It was not who came out first but a fun run that brought the young and the elderly, friends and families together. Sunday’s run was the second balloon run held by KLCCRG. The first was a year ago and held on 1 July 2016.
There was prizes galore and there were medals for the fastest runner and also slowest runner and not forgetting the fastest stroller and the fastest family.
The run was held during the KL Car Free Morning (which held every first and third Sunday of each month) to promote a healthy lifestyle among the community.
To encourage the culture of running, Under Armour gave an exclusive sneak preview of the latest enhanced running shoes, the Bandit 3, a versatile, lightweight everyday shoe designed for long distance running.
Celebrity guests, Kit Mah and Linora Low also made an appearance in support of the run.
The KLCCRG has reached a total of 25,000 members since it’s was launched at the KL Car Free Morning a year ago and the number is still growing. – BY DESLYN YOON
