Overnight leader Brandon Lau won the 10th leg of the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Development Circuit – Qualifying School at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club in Shah Alam today.
He shot a closing third round one-under-par 71 to finish with a six-over 222 total to win by five shots. He collected a RM3,000 gift voucher, given that he is an amateur player.
Danish Azhari (73) was runner-up on 227, while Rozaini Rosli (76) finished third on 230, with Muhammad Afif (75) another shot back on 231 to ensure that amateurs occupied the top four places.
Johnny Tan’s third and final day 78 had him finish as the tournament’s top-placed pro in fifth spot.
On a course that played difficult throughout, and also served as the PGM’s Northport Glenmarie Championship last week, Lau did well to card the only under-par round of the event as he registered three birdies, countered by a couple of bogeys – one on each nine.
The next PGM Development Circuit – Qualifying School event is at Tiara Melaka Golf & Country Club in Melaka from 8 – 10 November, 2015.
