THE staging of Le Tour de Femina (LTdF) 2019, Malaysia’s first women multi-stage cycling race, has been postponed to new dates, according to organisers Ciclista Sports Sdn Bhd in a statement today.
The six-stage UCI-sanctioned race was initially planned next month from 7 to 12 September.
The race is now fixed from 16 to 21 November, 2019. The decision to postpone the race was made following discussions and collective agreement with the Tour’s key stakeholders and sponsors.
“The new dates from 16 to 21 November has been fixed and approved by the International Cycling Union (UCI), the world governing body. The postponement was agreed by all related parties following last week’s meeting with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) and our sponsors,” Ciclista Sports Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Shahirudeen Seeni said.
Shahirudeen gave assurance that the race will be held within this year. “Following the new dates put forward by UCI, the organisers will work towards ensuring a smooth race,” he said.
LTdF 2019, is organised by Ciclista Sports Sdn Bhd in collaboration with KBS and MNCF with the aim of empowering women in sports as well as making Malaysia as one of the major cycling hubs for women.
