There is no stopping Terengganu as the Turtles mercilessly gunned down Felcra FC 4-1 in a Group A match to remain unbeaten in the competition in their quest to advance to the knockout stage.
The Turtles remained unbeaten after four matches and are perched on the top with10 points while Perak, 1-0 winners over Kuala Lumpur, remained in second spot with seven points. K. Lumpur is third with three points and Felcra at the bottom with only two points.
The East Coast hopefuls, however, were given a scare after just three minutes of play when Indonesian import, midfielder David Laly gave Felcra the lead.
But that was as far as the Premier League side could go and once skipper Kipre Tchetche snatched the equalizer for Terengganu on 18 minutes the show began with English-born Lee Tuck stealing the limelight with a grand hat-trick.
The midfielder gave Terengganu the lead after 22 minutes and the night belonged to Lee Tuck who scored again in the 61st minute from the penalty spot and completed the rout in the 79th minute.
It was also sweet revenge for Irfan Bakti and his team after struggling to a 2-2 draw against Felcra in a first-round match in Kuala Terengganu last week.
Perak snatched full points against K. Lumpur with Nasir Basharuddin netting the winner after 20 minutes.
Down south at the Larkin Stadium in Johor Bahru defending champions Johor Darul Takzim could only manage a 1-0 win over Kelantan with Fernando Marquez making it count in the 65th minute in a Group C match.
The Argentine striker beat the offside trap to net the winner with an assist from Gonzalo Cabrera. Kelantan had shocked JDT 1-0 in Kota Bahru last week.
The Southern Tigers moved to the top of Group C – ahead of MISC-MIFA who have a match in hand and play Kedah on Sunday. Kelantan is on four points from four matches with Kedah also on four from three matches.
In a Group D match played at the Darulmakmur Stadium in Kuantan it was a scoreless draw between Pahang and PKNP (Perak SEDC). Pahang lead the group with eight points after four matches. Sabah is second with seven points and play winless Selangor on Sunday. RIZAL ABDULLAH
