RENOVATION work at MABA Stadium, venue for basketball in the upcoming 29th SEA Games, will be fully completed by end of this month.
Upgrading work at the stadium, which can accommodate up to 1,500 spectators, is still on going, said Malaysian Basketball Association (MABA) secretary-general Sim Sin Heng.
“Basically the stadium is 85% ready. We even brought down the fence to make it look more spacious. I’m very satisfied with the progress so far. It looks very different now and better than before,” said Sim.
“We’ve received good feedback from teams during the recent MABA International Basketball Invitation Championship which also served as a pre-SEA Games event…they were pleased with the current playing floor,”he said.
“There was a slight problem with the air conditioner but it was just a minor hiccup. We’re taking steps to rectify any shortcomings,” said Sim.
The 2017 SEA Games basketball competition runs from 20 to 26th August.
