*Malacca earn promotion to the second-tier FAM League

* Nurshamil Ghani is hattrick hero in 3-2 win over Perlis in the final

 

Historical City Malacca are the 2015 FAM Cup League champions – defeating Perlis 3-2 in the final played at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Malacca on Saturday.

And what an atmosphere it turned out to be for 40,000 fans and supporters – Malacca’s biggest football crowd seen in years to celebrate their success. It was certainly a perfect 58th Merdeka present for the state,

An injury time goal by hattrick hero Nurshamil Abdul Ghani sealed Malacca’s victory and the celebrations that followed on a night when Perlis not only threatened to spoil it but also led twice.

However, Malacca coached by Mat Zan Aris, never gave up through grit and determination to draw level each time and snatched the winner in injury time.

The Northern Lions opened scoring on 16 minutes through Syafiq Azmi. However, Nurshamil made it all square after 37 minutes to go into the break at 1-1.

Perlis were back in front with another Syafiq goal in the 59th minute. The lead, however, did not last long when the deadly finisher Nurshamil getting his second on the night on 71 minutes. 

And Nurshamil was simply too hot to handle for Perlis when he slammed in his third goal, which turned out to be the winner, in injury time for a 3-2 win.

As winners Malacca took home RM60,000 which came with the title while Perlis were richer by RM30,000..

Despite the defeat, Perlis earned promotion to the second-tier Premier League.
