Goh Jin Wei handed Yaelle Hoyaux a love set in the second game in her 21-17, 21-0 win in 20 minutes to pave the way for Malaysia’s 5-0 win over France in their final Group D match in the Uber Cup Finals at Impact Arena, Bangkok on Wednesday.
Playing first singles instead of Soniia Cheah, who was rested, the former world junior champion, however, could not hide her disappointment that Malaysia failed to achieve their quarter-final target after defeats to Indonesia (2-3) and China (1-4) in the first two matches.

Jin Wei’s defeat to reigning world junior champion Gregoria Mariska proved costly for Malaysia in the defeat to Indonesia. She, however, surprised herself with a 21-9, 17-21, 21-13 win over He Binjiao but China still packed enough power for a 4-1 win.
The win over France meant Malaysia finished third in the group. China, meanwhile, edged Indonesia 3-2 to top the group with the Indonesians second.
Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean handed Malaysia their second point against the French with a 21-14, 21-17 win over Emelie Lefel-Anne Tran but the rest of the matches were all decided over three games.
In the second singles, Lee Ying Ying defeated Marie Batomene 15-21, 21-16, 21-11 while Vivian Hoo-Tee Jing Yi won the second doubles with 21-13, 15-21, 28-26 win over Delphine Delrue-Lea Palermo.
S. Kisona completed the scoreline after a come-from-behind 17-21, 21-14, 21-9 victory over Katia Normand. – BYÂ RIZAL ABDULLAHÂ
