Malaysia settled for fourth place in the AFC Women’s Futsal Championship 2015 at the Nilai Indoor Stadium in Negeri Sembilan Saturday.
The women lost 1-4 to Thailand in the third place match play-off, said the AFC official website www.the-afc.com.
However, Malaysia were first to score via Masturah Majid in the 11th minute.
Stung, Thailand equalised two minutes later via Mamyalee Sawitree.
The Thais got three more goals via Hataichanok Tappakun (15 min), Darika Peanpailun (21 min) and Nur Shazreen Munazli (own goal, 34 min).
Malaysian coach Chiew Chun Yong said the loss was due to lack of focus, momentum and consistency, especially towards the end of the match.
“They were tired after playing four games over a short period. In addition, their physical aspect is also important in this game,” she added.
Meanwhile, Iran beat Japan 1-0 in the final to lift the title. – BERNAMA
