Malaysia have picked their Thomas Cup team on merit with Goh Soon Huat named as the fourth singles player for the Thomas Cup Finals which will be played in New Delhi, India from May 18-25.The Malaysians will be led by World No 1 Datuk Lee Chong Wei. The other singles players named after the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) council meeting in Subang Jaya on Saturday are Chong Wei Feng and Liew Daren.The doubles pairs picked for the Thomas Cup are World No 7 Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong, Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah and Chang Peng Soon-Tan Boon Heong.
Malaysia are drawn in Group C together with hosts India, South Korea and India. The top teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
Malaysia also named their Uber Cup team to New Delhi with Tee Jing Yi leading the singles charge. The other singles players are Yang Li Lian, Lim Yin Fun and Lim Chiew Sien.
Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei, the Sea Games champions lead the doubles charge. The others are Amelia Alicia Anscelly-Soong Fie Cho and Lee Meng Yean-Lim Yin Loo.
In the Uber Cup, Malaysia are drawn in D with Japan, Denmark and Germany.
The coaches travelling to New Delhi are Rashid Sidek, Hendrawan, Tey Seu Bok, Wong Tat Meng (singles) and Pang Cheh Chang, Rosman Razak, Tan Kim Her and Jeremy Gan (doubles).
