The Malaysian national Futsal team is in a tough Group B of the AFF Futsal Championship 2019 following the draw this week.
And while they managed to avoid fourteen-time ASEAN champions Thailand, the Malaysians’ passage to the next round is hindered by the presence of big guns Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand.
Thailand are in Group A against Myanmar, Timor Leste and Cambodia.
Thailand have won the title 14 times out of 15 editions of the annual championship with Indonesia the only other country to have won it in 2010.
The 2019 edition of the AFF Futsal Championship slated for 21-27 October in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is also being used as the official qualifier for the AFC Futsal Championship 2020.
The top three teams from the AFF Futsal Championship 2019 will make the cut for the AFC Futsal Championship in Turkmenistan in 2020.
