The Malaysian national Under-23 side got just the right tonic ahead of their AFC U23 qualifiers in March when they beat hosts Bangladesh 3-2 to lift the Bangabandhu Cup last night.

The Malaysias opened account in the 30th minute off a free kick from skipper Nazirul Naim before they added the second goal through teenager S. Kumaahran ten minutes later.

A goal mouth scramble just four minutes into the second half, allowed Bangladeshi to pull a goal back when Jahid Ameli pounced on the loose ball as they then nailed the equaliser in the 53rd minute off a header from Yasin Khan.

And just when the hosts thought that an extra time was on way, came the header from Faizat Ghazali right at the death to give Malaysia the crown.
