MALAYSIA won a Tri-Series Tournament involving Singapore and England’s Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).

In today’s final against Singapore, it was the island republic who won the toss and elected to bat.

They were bowled out for 145 runs in 41.5 overs with Chetan Suryawansi (34 runs), Navin Param (28) and Vijay Kumar (20) top scoring for them.

Chasing the modest total, Malaysia’s opening pair put up 26 runs before opener Sheikh Nasir was caught with 22 runs to his credit. Skipper Ahmad Faiz went in to steady the innings and hit 67 runs not out to claim victory. He was ably supported by Suhan Kumar who scored 30 runs and for his effort the skipper was named Man of the Match.

The other batsman who chipped was Fikri Makram 18 runs as Malaysia claimed a seven-wicket victory.
