Malindo Air has confirmed its support of the Nepal Earthquake Fund Raising Match and the Bat for Nepal campaign. The sponsorship deal will see the Nepal National Team travel on Malindo Air to play in the Nepal Earthquake Fund Raising Match, which will be played in Kuala Lumpur in August.
The sponsorship deal is the first time Malindo Air has positioned itself in the international cricket arena, a sport that is extremely popular in many of its destination markets. The agreement was reached during the recent working visit to Kuala Lumpur by the CEO of Cricket Association of Nepal, Ms BhawanaGhimire.
Mr. Chandran Rama Muthy, the CEO of Malindo Air stated, “We are very honoured to be the official airline to fly the Nepal cricket team to Malaysia on our commercial flight while exercising our social responsibilities through the fundraising event. This means we have gone beyond just connecting the cities, but also contributing to the communities involved and supporting the sports event shared by these countries.”

Mr. Mahinda Vallipuram, the President of the Malaysian Cricket Association thanked Malindo Air’s involvement, adding “Malindo Air is an important player in the industry and we are proud to have them on board as the official airline for the Nepal Earthquake Fund Raising Match. This is not only a sponsorship but an important contribution at a time when it is most needed for the people of Nepal.”
“International cricket can help open up new markets for Malaysian companies especially by creating a brand presence in the key cricket markets of the sub-continent. This is a combined market of 1.5 billion people and in terms of tourism development. It is a huge opportunity as airlines are at the cutting edge of this development. This makes Malindo Air’s sponsorship more meaningful,” added Mr. Mahinda.
Malindo Air operates 14 flights weekly between Kathmandu and Kuala Lumpur. The Nepal Earthquake Fund Raising Match will take place in Kuala Lumpur in August at the Kinrara Oval, which will see the Nepal national team take on a World XI comprising of some of the great names of the game from various countries around the world.
Tickets can be purchased at Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur,all proceeds from the sale will be channelled to the Nepal’s Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.
