Turut hadir, Chef de Mission Kontinjen Sukan SEA Malaysia, Datuk Marina Chin dan Presiden Persatuan Ekuestrian Malaysia (EAM) Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly.
EQUESTRIAN VENUE IN GOOD SHAPE – MASOC
YOUTH and Sports Minister YB Brig Gen Khairy Jamaluddin on Sunday (21 May) expressed satisfaction over the level of preparation of 3Q Equestrian Centre which will serve as venue for Dressage and Show Jumping in the 29th SEA Games in August.
The centre, located in Kuang, is now fully ready to play host and receive athletes, officials, guests as well as horses who will competing in both events, scheduled from 22-28 August.
3Q Equestrian Centre will also be providing two stables which will be able to house up to 44 horses during the competition.
“Our priority is to ensure that horses are well taken care of, and to ensure security and safety, we’ve also equipped the whole place with CCTVs,” said 3Q venue manager, Zainal Abidin Zahari.
YB Brig Gen Khairy lauded 3Q Equestrian Centre’s efforts and initiatives in preparing the venue in all aspects.
“3Q was chosen due to cost factor. If we were to have the event in Putrajaya, it would require upgrading work which would be very costly,” said YB Brig Gen after attending the Dressage and Show Jumping pre SEA Games competition on Sunday (21 Mei 2017). Also present were Malaysia SEA Games contingent Chef de Mission Datuk Marina Chin and Equestrian Association of Malaysia (EAM) President Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly.
YB Brig Gen Khairy Jamaluddin added that the Endurance venue in Terengganu is currently in good shape. “I was made to understand that Terengganu International Endurance Park (TIEP) Endurance is in good shape and fully ready for the Games,” he said.
A total of seven gold medals are on offer in the SEA Games equestrian competition (Show Jumping, Dressage, Endurance and Polo) which runs from 20-29 August.
