MISC-MIFA FC took a slight advantage in the first leg final of the FAM Cup when they beat PKNP 1-0 last night at the Stadium Shah Alam.
An intense first half, saw both teams trying very hard for goal as they attempt to get the upper hand for the return tie. PKNP threw everything they had into the game but MIFA’s defense stood.
PKNP were more aggressive after break but they just can’t seem to find their way through as both teams seem destined for a scoreless draw.
However, two minutes to the end PKNP conceded a penalty and MIFA’s Thipen Raj did not need a second bite at the apple as he made good from the spot to drive the MIFA fans into a wild frenzy.
Said Jacob Joseph, the head coach of MIFA:Â â PKNP are a very strong team even though they were playing away. They have good strikers and midfielders and that allowed them to penetrate our defence. It was a slim win but we will have another week to prepare for the return tie.”
Offered Abu Bakar Fadzim, the head coach of PKNP: âwe had a lot of chances to score but for many of the players, it was their first time playing in the finals so they were a bit nervous. But we hope to win the second finals.”
