The S.League is pleased to announce that Mitre, the world’s oldest manufacturer of footballs, will be the Official Football and Product Supplier to the S.League for the next five years.

As part of this deal, Mitre will also provide match balls for all Prime League, Singapore Cup, League Cup, COE League, National Football League and Island Wide League matches.

“This partnership is a great opportunity for us to build brand awareness island-wide, whilst creating new sales opportunities as football is watched and loved by many in Singapore. Football is proven as the number one sport, and the S.League provides us with a new platform to demonstrate the technological advancement of our products whilst encouraging purchase amongst amateur players and fans. Mitre is dedicated to being at the heart of football and improving the quality of play at every level,” said Mr Alfred Toh, General Manager, Teamwork Sports LLP. Teamwork Sports LLP is Mitre’s licensee for Singapore and Malaysia.

“For the next five years, anybody who participates in just about any match organised by the FAS will be playing with a Mitre ball. We could not be happier, because they will be in good company – Mitre is also supplying match balls to all levels of The Football League in England, from the League Championship to League Two, as well as to The Scottish Professional Football League. In fact, our S.League players will be using exactly the same ball as League Championship players – the Mitre Delta Hyperseam,” enthused Mr Lim Kia Tong, Vice President, Football Association of Singapore (FAS).

He added: “I am delighted to note that other than competitions, our National Football Academy teams will also be receiving Mitre footballs. It is essential that our players receive top quality training with top quality footballs, in order to maximise their potential on the field. Therefore, I am very pleased with this arrangement for our NFA teams.”

“The new Mitre Delta Hyperseam ball is smooth to the touch for players to showcase their skills. I like the textured finish and the design is definitely a big plus for both players and fans alike,” said Geylang International FC midfielder Gabriel Quak.

Miroslav Krištic from Balestier Khalsa FC quipped: “I think the Mitre Delta Hyperseam ball is the most advanced match ball to grace the S.League to date. I can’t wait to do tricks with the ball when the season begins!”

The 2016 season of the S.League will kick off at 7.30pm on 13 February at the Jalan Besar Stadium, with double Cup winners Albirex Niigata FC (S) taking on defending S.League champions Brunei DPMM FC in the Community Shield.

The match will also double as a league fixture, with the score at the end of regulation time being used for the league table. If there is a tie, the winner of the Community Shield will then be decided by spot kicks. There will be no extra-time.
