Myanmar Imperial University (MIU) Futsal Club are aiming for a place in the final in the upcoming AFF Futsal Cup 2019 that will be held on 18-23 June in Nakhon Ratchasima.
MIU – which was known as the Myanmar Imperial College (MIC) previously – have been placed in Group B against Melaka United from Malaysia and Down Town Sport from Cambodia.
“We want to reach the final. That is our ambition. We finished third at the last competitions (in Indonesia). So, we must try to reach the final this time,” said Phyo Maung Maung, owner of MIU.
Towards that, MIU will play two friendly matches against Thai club sides prior to the AFF Futsal Cup 2019.
The team will take on Port FC – current Thai Futsal league leaders – on 14 June and then against Hong Yen Takam FC (currently placed fourth) a day later.
MIU are the most successful futsal club in the Myanmar Futsal League where they won the titles three times and twice domestic cup champions.
For the record, MIU have taken third place three times at AFF Futsal Club in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
