The Malaysian 7s women’s team has set a modest bronze medal as their target – considering that the team was formed less than a year back in November 2016.
But the short period of time playing together has not deterred the team one bit as they have jumped into the fray for several bruising championships including a stint in Melbourne, Australia as they geared up for KL2017.
Tan Thiam Jin, the Malaysiahn 7s women’s team manager said that targeted training has been designed to improve the basic skills of the team.
“We are ready for the championship. We have to say that all the teams from the five countries are ready. It will be an equal match as we will be playing the round-robin format. Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, and Laos will all be a strong challenge but our team will continue to fight to make Malaysia proud.
“I hope all rugby fans will come to the stadium and show their support to our Malaysia 7s women’s team. We will try our best to create history.”
Added head coach Nik Safuan Ismade: “as compared to the previous team, this team has a lot more potential and seems more ready to fight. Their speed and tactical skills are very good. We will try our best to fight for our bronze medal target.”
