SCG Muang Thong United made up for their disappointment in losing the Thai Premier League (TPL) crown to bitter rivals Buriram United this year when they beat ten-men Chiang Rai for the League Cup title this week.
After wasting several gilt-edged chances, Muang Thong finally found the back of the net through Peerapat Notechaiya in the 35th minute before veteran striker Teerasil Dangda added the second goal right at the hour mark.
Chiang Rai lost striker Everton Goncalves two minutes to the end.
