A double from Suphanat Mueanta gave host Thailand a hard-fought 3-1 win over the Philippines in the King’s Cup 2024 that was played last night at the Tinsulanon Stadium.

In the match that was affected by heavy torrential rain, Thailand took the lead through Chanathip Songkrasin in the 53rd minute before Bjørn Kristensen replied for the Philippines ten minutes later.

However, Mueanta’s persistence at the front paid off handsomely when he fired the Thais into the lead once again in the 68th minute before adding the winning touch with three minutes left on the clock.

In the final that will be played in three days, Thailand will take on Syria following the latter’s close 1-0 win over Tajikistan in an earlier match.

Mohammed Osman scored the only goal for Syria in the 35th minute.
