Mizuno Malaysia Sdn Bhd have selected the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) as its new kit partner for the National Senior Women and Junior teams, as well as the National Indoor Men’s and Women’s team.

Established over a century ago, Mizuno is a global corporation that makes a wide variety of sports equipment and sportswear for table tennis, badminton, golf, baseball, and mixed martial arts.

Mizuno country manager Darren Wong, said: “Mizuno also sponsors Japan, Great Britain, Ireland hockey team and a few clubs in Europe. As for the Malaysian teams, we see potential. The teams have been playing well and there is a great amount of confidence in them.”

The corporation, said Darren, will provide a wide range of training and playing attire, including shoes, for the three national teams.

Malaysian Hockey Confederation and Mizuno signed a one-year contract with the provision of an extension for another year.

MHC President Dato’ Sri Subahan Kamal, speaking on the sideline of the TNB Tun Abdul Razak Cup in Johor Bahru which was attended by Mr Darren, and Mizuno’s senior executive (sports business) Azhraai Hakimi, express enthusiasm about the sponsorship, stating: “We are thrilled about what this collaboration will bring to the National Women’s (senior and junior) and National Indoor Hockey Teams (men’s and women’s).”

“Another reason why they came on board, and I also agree is that Mizuno is a great brand. We are excited to see them coming on board which is an honour for us.”

He added that Mizuno is also aware that our women teams, both seniors and juniors, have bright futures and are a team to be reckoned with in Asia. They are also going places.

The senior team will be competing in the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy in Bihar, India from Nov 11-20, while the juniors will play in the Junior Asia Cup in Muscat, Oman in December.

The 2025 Men’s FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup will be the seventh edition of the World Cup. It will be held at the Žatika Sport Centre in Poreč, Croatia from Feb 3-9.

“I believe strongly that the junior women’s team will qualify for the World Cup via merit for the first time ever. This kind of booster will give them added strength. We want to carry this brand into the Junior World Cup,” said Subahan.

He also stressed that the senior women’s team is on the right track and hope to make a podium finish in the 2026 Asian Games.
