Eduard Tjong, the head coach of the Indonesian Under-19 team, said that there are still several areas which could be improved despite their 3-1 in over the Philippines in a friendly over the weekend.
Indonesia and the Philippines will be playing in the AFF U19 Championship next month and where this week at the Maguwoharjo Stadium in Sleman, it provided Indonesia U19 their first international test since returning from FIFA ban earlier this year.
The Indonesian youngsters scored the opener through Dimas Drajad in the 23rd minute and then Sandi Pratama in the 59th minute.
The Philippines hit back through Lorenzo Giuseppe in the 70th minute before the home team rounded off the evening with their third goal off Edo Febrian in the 90th minute.
“The team played with a lot of confidence but they are still lacking in the finishing,” said Eduard.
“Fitness wise, we are not there yet but we still have some time to work on that.”
The AFF U19 Championship will be held on 11-24 September 2016 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
