Naruphol Kaenson, the newly appointed head coach of Thailand national womenâs football team, said that the team need to be more exciting and entertaining in their playing style.
âWe will elevate the playing style by making it more entertaining and exciting,â said Naruphol. âThe old format is good but we will come up with a style that suits our players more.â
Naruphol takes over the position left vacant by Nuengrutai Srathongvian, who resigned alongside team manager Nualphan Lamsam following Thailandâs exit in the group stage of the FIFA Womenâs World Cup in Paris.
And the immediate task for Naruphol would be to defend the AFF Womenâs Championship 2019 that will be played in Chonburi next month.
Thailand have won the titles four times – in 2011, 2014 (U19), 2015, 2016 and 2018.
âThere are some U19 players that I want to recruit for the team. Young players who can follow our directions, playing style and tactics will be selected. However, age doesnât matter. If they can run and fit in, they deserve to play for the country,â added Naruphol, whose team is currently based at the Kiarti Thanee Country Club for final selection.
Thailand have been drawn in Group A against Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Timor Leste.
Group B are Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia.
